Maungdaw, Arakan State: The Burmese military junta is forcing villagers to grow sun flowers, pulse and potato in Maungdaw and Buthidaung Townships since the beginning of this month, according to a former village Chairman of Maungdaw Township.

Maungdaw, Burma:  A clash occurred between police and villagers on November 14, over looting goods from a shopkeeper in Maungdaw Township in Arakan State, said a close relative of the victim on condition of anonymity.

Burmese junta continues troops build up along border

Maungdaw, Burma. The Burmese military junta continues with its troop build up along the Burma-Bangladesh border though tension has eased after its warships withdrew from the disputed oil and gas exploration area in the Bay of Bengal, said an aide of Nasaka (Burma's border security force) in Maungdaw town.
